Mark is running for Minnesota House Seat 8A to serve the citizens in the Western half of Duluth, Minnesota, with a common sense leadership style.

Mark has a combined 28 years of law enforcement experience: 24 1/2 years as a Minnesota State Trooper and 3 1/2 years as a City of Superior Police Officer. To better educate himself and advance his understanding of the profession, Mark earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice 23 years into his career. Mark's extensive experience with public safety positions him well to support legislation that keeps citizens, families, streets, and cities safe.

In addition to his law enforcement experience, Mark served his country in the United States Navy Reserve for nearly 24 years and retired at a rank of Petty Officer First Class (E6). During his time in the Navy, Mark supervised a team of approximately 40 sailors attached to a naval security force comprised mostly of those with a rating of master at arms (Navy law enforcement). This opportunity advanced Mark's leadership capacities.

Mark is a lifelong resident of Duluth, Minnesota, and an alumnus of Duluth's Denfeld High School class of 1986.  He and his wife Heather have been married for 25 years and are the proud parents of two sons.

Most importantly, Mark is a person of Christian faith and a lifetime member of the West Duluth church. His faith informs every aspect of his life and guides his ethical and moral framework.
